So, I only just found out about this, and it looks like Ubuntu and I are done professionally. I'm sure Canonical are as heartbroken about that as I am.

I know I can turn that feature off, but Mark Shuttleworth's response to the outcry was "Don’t trust us? Erm, we have root," and yeah, fuck that guy.

What other Linux distros are good these days? I'm looking into Debian, Mint, or Bodhi. I used Debian back before I started seeing Ubuntu.

Opinions? Any other distros I should consider?

Aww, man, this totally sucks. :( Ubuntu is the distro I chose when I was playing around with linux on my Mac about six months ago, and I really liked it. In fact, I just booted this crappy windows box from a Ubuntu live CD today, so i could get some files off my external (mac-formatted) HD. Was even thinking about asking dad if I could install Ubuntu on this machine, since I suspect it would run faster than Windows does.

I don't have any advice on distros. I did look into Mint briefly, but don't know much about it. Haven't heard of Bodhi before, I'll have to check that one out.
