whom I've seen for three sessions so far, this would be the encounter I'd point to:

Her: [while massaging] So this is your quadratus lumborum muscle, which attaches here and goes all the way down to here...
Me: Oh - all of that is bent when I'm driving.
Her: No, it shouldn't be: not if your car seat is adjusted correctly and you roll a towel up to keep your spine arched.

If I have to say anything, I'll say "I don't feel like we're communicating effectively," but what I'll mean is "when I say 'I think this is a situation which is causing me pain and which I'll need to change,'" I would prefer to hear "Yes, the set-up you're describing could cause pain in that area, and adjusting the seat and rolling up a towel might help that," not "No, that can't be right - that would only cause you pain if you had done these things you don't know how to do and haven't been told to do before, what are you, stupid?"

:/

I once had a physio ask me "what brings on the pain" and I said "being awake" and he laughed. I wasn't actually joking.
