Actually it was like this: I went to the hardware store and then to the Capital City Trail for a long walk. On my way back, I found a pigeon lying on the path. It kept trying to get up and falling flat on its face again. I picked it up, and it didn't even struggle. So I took it with me. I must have walked at least 2km holding that bird. A lot of people passed me, but they didn't say anything. I guess going for a walk with your pigeon is just what you do.
When I got back to my car I put it in the plastic tub I'd just bought from the hardware store, and drove ten minutes to the Lort Smith, where thankfully there was not really a queue at all, and the staffmember at the desk just took the pigeon and gave me a form to fill out and some hand sanitiser, and then I was on my way again.

A red basin, a lightbulb, a tin of furniture stain, two lists, a receipt, and a pigeon.
