Does anyone have recs for good books to write in?

What I would really love is the sort of blank book I used to buy from Borders, when there was a Borders. They had a line of stationery called Paperchase, and the journals were thick (200 pages) and lined and sewn and clothbound in interesting prints, and the cloth had a really nice texture, and there was a ribbon bookmark.

Alas, I finished writing in my Paperchase journal, and have nearly finished the Moleskine I bought to replace it. Moleskines are easy to come by, but more expensive than I'd like for what they are, and besides, the Book Depository just refunded my order for the old Star Wars one - apparently the inventory was wrong and they didn't have it after all. So I thought I'd see what else is out there.

(Somebody stop me before I bind my own, because I think this is where I'm headed.)

Paperchase do online ordering, but I don't know if the costs to Australia would be exorbitant.

Damn them. They have just the sort of journals I want, but shipping's 20 pounds. Thank you anyway.

There's a store about ten minutes walk from my flat, if you want me to pick some up and post them to you? I'm pretty sure that my shipping costs would be substantially less.

Wow, that would be really great, thank you! Could you please find out how much the cheapest postage would cost for two fat journals (I'm fine with steamboat or dogsled or whatever the slow option is) and then I'll pick out a couple?

Hi there - I came over because I enjoyed your Avengers/brocolli answers at cereta's journal, and got intrigued by your posts. Would you mind if I added you?

Re: journals, I wonder if you can get the Paperblanks ones where you are: they're so beautiful and it looks like they're available worldwide:

Have you checked out etsy? There's a lot of hand-bound books and journals on there, if you're inclined. (I'm in the same boat - I could bind my own but I never actually do it for me, just as gifts for other people.)
