vass: a man in a bat suit says "I am a model of mental health!" (Bats)

I think this is going to be one of those days

Got up at 8 and fed the kittens. Got to the car shop to get my car serviced at 9:15 for a 9am appointment. The guy at the desk told me my car would be ready early in the afternoon. I said "Oh, the guy on the phone when I booked said it would be two or three hours, so I thought I'd wait here." Guy at the desk said "Yes, the service will take two or three hours, once the guys are ready to do your car." Later had an argument with my father about whether I or the guy on the phone had totally missed the point when I made the booking. Caught a taxi home.

Went back to bed. Slept uncomfortably, but had an absolutely amazing dream: new sequel of The Princess Bride came out this year with all the original cast, older but still valiant (Andre the Giant is still alive in this dream) and right before they all went off to save the world, Fezzik leaned forward and kissed Inigo in this casually spousal way, and it was not out of the ordinary at all; and then the dream turned into this massive birthday party for a little boy, with George Lucas dressed as Darth Vader having a lightsaber battle with him and doing the "Luke - I am your father" thing.

Woke up, fed and checked the kittens. Calvin had just used the facilities before I checked him, and he trod poo all over my boobs before I realised. It was the grossest thing I'd had happen at least all year. And then I found Mona's newest offering - she's avoiding the litterbox right now, and it was up against a wall and really soft and yuuuuuck. And when I weighed her I found out that she's lost a hundred grams since I got her. DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD: I called the vet nurse at the RSPCA and they said to bring her in even though they don't have any appointments available.

So I called my father, and he's going to give me and Mona a lift to go pick up my car, and then I'll drive her on to the RSPCA.

I might mention that even sick and weak and having earned the nickname The Little Match Girl, she is still able to shoot out of their room like a cork out of a bottle when I open the door, and then I have to run and catch her before a) Beatrice does, or b) she disappears behind some furniture or other. All three of them have this talent (Calvin in lesser measure than the two girls) and they've learned to coordinate it so they all go in different directions. They are all amazingly quick - even Mona.

Edit: I posted this at 4:30 on my way out the door. It is now 7:50. Except for ten minutes at the car shop and thirty minutes at the vet, I have been in traffic the entire remainder of the intervening time. And so has Mona. Left the car shop at 5:10. Got to the RSPCA at 6:30. Left the RSPCA at 7. And now we're home. I feel like someone's been using me as a punching bag.

Mona has had sub-q fluids, and I've been given some Hill's i/d to feed her if she'll eat it. If she won't, I'm to boil some chicken breast and mix that in with the Hill's i/d. I'm also to separate her from the other tinycats, who knows where. My bathroom isn't very big, and there's nowhere else to wash my hands after I go to the toilet. The vet nurse wouldn't let me speak directly to the vet (IDK, maybe they're timid or hard to breed or something) but passed on that they didn't want to give her antibiotics because she's so little. I don't have a diagnosis or anything like that.

I'm to bring her in with the others this Tuesday, or earlier "if I'm worried". How I could possibly not be worried under the circumstances, I really don't know.

Poor little kitten! When Baggins had chronic diarrhoea as a new kitten we fed him a tiny amount of Yakult in a dropper and that really helped him. Not that he ever had a problem gaining weight, as he is now Longcat.

(And I really don't miss traffic! That sounds awful.)
